Purpose Statements
Herein you will find the progression of Purpose Statements which reflect the highest level of transitional thought in progressing through this journey.
Beginning with the Statement which was included with my application to George Mason, subsequent revisions will reflect how (if) my philosophy (my “love of the truth”) has matured (?) over the time and energy spent.
For the GMU Ph.D. in Education, three portfolio reviews are required. The first before the end of the third semester of study, the second at the completion of 30 credits of coursework, and the comprehensive assessment at the completion of coursework.
The electronic portfolio overall is designed to accomplish the following objectives for the student (me!), faculty involved (primarily the Advisory and Dissertation Committees), and others who have interest:
1. Provide an organized manner in which academic, research, and professional goals may be developed and shared.
2. Provide an archived record of progress through the coursework required and elected.
3. Provide a manner in which reflections may be documented as progress is made.
4. Demonstrate readiness to enter the dissertation phase through the above.
